St. Louis has been selected to host the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, bringing one of the nation’s premier sporting events to a city with deep Olympic roots and a proven track record of hosting world-class competitions.
On March 25, 2028, top marathon runners will compete in St. Louis for a spot on Team USA at the Los Angeles Olympics. NBC will broadcast the event live nationwide.
The selection marks another milestone for a region that consistently attracts major sporting events and international attention. As St. Louis prepares to host Olympic soccer matches and welcome thousands of visitors, the Marathon Trials further demonstrate the region’s ability to deliver exceptional experiences for athletes, spectators, and event organizers.
The course will feature St. Louis landmarks such as Washington University, Forest Park, the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, and Energizer Park, showcasing the city’s unique history, culture, and urban amenities.
“St. Louis demonstrated the professionalism, vision, and passion necessary to host one of the most important events on the road to Los Angeles,” said Max Siegel, CEO of USA Track & Field.
The event also marks a return to the city where America’s first Olympic marathon was held in 1904, connecting St. Louis’s Olympic legacy with its future as a destination for major national and international events.
For Missouri, the announcement is another example of how the state’s major metropolitan areas continue to attract marquee events that showcase its accessibility, hospitality, and quality of life to visitors from across the nation and around the world.
