Global roofing and waterproofing leader IKO has been honored with a Trade & Industry Development CiCi Award for Community Impact, recognizing the company’s transformative investment in Bismarck, Missouri.
The award highlights IKO’s $120 million investment in its new Bismarck Granules facility, a 220,000-square-foot operation that will create more than 50 direct jobs while generating hundreds more across the region. Beyond job creation, the project is expected to drive long-term economic growth, infrastructure improvements, and increased opportunities for the local community.
“The winning projects would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of economic development agencies that carefully craft and blend all elements of site selection and project commitment together to build a better future for their communities,” said Trade & Industry Development Publisher Scott Swoger.
This milestone builds on the momentum first announced in 2025, when IKO broke ground on the facility to strengthen its U.S. manufacturing network and supply chain. Once operational, the plant will supply granules to IKO’s shingle production facilities across the southern United States, reinforcing Missouri’s role as a strategic hub for advanced manufacturing.

The success of this project underscores the power of collaboration. Missouri Partnership worked closely with a strong network of partners to attract Bismarck Granules to the state, including the City of Bismarck, St. Francois County, the St. Francois County Industrial Development Authority, SEMO Regional Planning Commission, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Ameren. Together, these partners helped position Missouri as the ideal location for IKO’s continued growth.
IKO’s recognition with a CiCi Award reflects more than a single project; it represents a shared commitment to economic development, workforce opportunity, and long-term community impact. As the Bismarck facility moves toward completion, it stands as a powerful example of what’s possible when global industry leaders and local partners work together to drive growth.
