St. Louis and Kansas City both ranked high on WalletHub’s 2014 list of the 100 Best and Worst Cities for Staycations in the United States. St. Louis ranked at No. 13 overall and Kansas City ranked at No. 35 overall.
St. Louis also ranked at No. 4 for most museums per capita, and No. 5 for food and entertainment. Kansas City ranked at No. 10 for rest and relaxation.
WalletHub looked at 20 factors—from the number of public golf courses and swimming pools per capita to the cost of maid services—in ranking the 100 largest U.S. cities.
“Certain cities are obviously more conducive to a staycation than others,” John S. Keirnan of WalletHub said. “From recreation opportunities to the cost of relaxation, there are a number of factors to consider when evaluating whether or not you can bring the benefits of a vacation to your front door.”
