St. Louis and Kansas City both ranked high on WalletHub’s 2015 list of the 100 Best and Worst Cities for Staycations in the United States. St. Louis ranked at No. 6 overall, up seven spots over last year, and Kansas City ranked at No. 22 overall, up 22 spots over last year’s ranking.
St. Louis also ranked at No. 3 for most museums per 100,000 residents, and No. 5 for most public golf courses.
WalletHub examined three key dimensions to determine the most suitable staycation spots in the U.S.: recreation activities; food and entertainment; and rest and relaxation.
“Certain cities are obviously more conducive to a staycation than others,” John S. Keirnan of WalletHub said. “From recreation opportunities to the cost of relaxation, there are a number of factors to consider when evaluating whether or not you can bring the benefits of a vacation to your front door.”
