Two Missouri BBQ restaurants were recently named on Zagat’s list of the top 15 great newcomers to the BBQ scene: Q39 in Kansas City was ranked No. 7 and Spare No Rib in St. Louis was ranked No. 13.
“Kansas City barbecue just got fancy at this ‘urban-rustic’ locale from barbecue circuit champion Rob Magee,” Zagat said on its website about Q39.
Q39’s sandwiches, burgers and “competition-worthy” BBQ plates were all named as “don’t miss” menu items.
At Spare No Rib, Zagat named the cumin-coriander-cinnamon rubbed ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and variety of tacos as “don’t miss” menu items.
“In the new school of St. Louis, smoked meats are accompanied by salads and Mexican food,” Zagat said about Spare No Rib.
