The Washington Monthly’s “2011 College Rankings” was recently released, evaluating the nation’s colleges and universities in four categories – national universities, liberal arts colleges, Master’s universities and Baccalaureate colleges.
The schools are ranked according to their social mobility (how well they enroll low-income students and help them earn a degree), research production (success at sending undergraduates on to Ph.D.s), and service (colleges that encourage students to give something back). Truman State University in Kirksville was the highest ranked Missouri college at No. 3 in the Master’s universities category.
