In March 2017, American Outdoor Brands (AOB), a manufacturer of outdoor sports and recreation products, announced plans to establish a national distribution center near Columbia, Missouri. The 632,000 sq. ft. facility created more than 300 new jobs in the region.
“We continue to focus on our vision of being a leading provider of high-quality products for the shooting, hunting, and rugged outdoor enthusiast,” said James Debney, former President and CEO of AOB. “Establishing a national distribution center will allow us, over time, to harvest synergies across our businesses. Our meetings with representatives of Missouri demonstrated that they are business-friendly and understand what we need as a company to be successful.”
Missouri competed against several other states to land AOB’s $55 million investment. Ultimately, the company chose Missouri due to its highly skilled workforce and central location.
In November 2017, AOB broke ground on the new facility, and in late 2018 the facility opened for business.
