Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis were all named to WalletHub’s 2015 list of the best places to start a business in the U.S., with Springfield ranking third best overall, Kansas City at No. 36 and St. Louis at No. 48.
WalletHub examined the relative start-up opportunities existing in the 150 most populated U.S. cities, analyzing each city across two key dimensions: access to resources and business environment. They then identified 13 metrics relevant to both dimensions, including five-year survival rate, affordability of office space and educational attainment of the local labor force.
Springfield came in at No. 1 for access to resources and No. 70 for business environment.
Kansas City came in at No. 51 for access to resources and No. 22 for business environment.
St. Louis came in at No. 57 for access to resources and No. 45 for business environment.
