Sentio BioSciences Expands in Missouri

Sentio BioSciences, a vertically integrated pharmaceutical manufacturer, is investing over $10.6 million to expand operations in Maryland Heights, Missouri. According to the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the expansion will boost the company’s capacity to domestically produce generic medicines, including key starting materials, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), and finished drug products. The company is currently manufacturing three FDA-approved products, with a fourth in the pipeline.

Sentio is creating 58 new jobs and expanding its facility to support continued growth. The new space, expected to open in 2026, will also reinforce the company’s strong commitment to workforce development. Sentio’s robust on-the-job training programs are designed to upskill individuals from non-traditional talent pools into highly skilled pharmaceutical technicians.

Missouri Partnership touring Sentio Biosciences

In March, Missouri Partnership had the opportunity to tour Sentio’s existing Maryland Heights facility and learn firsthand about the company’s dedication to quality, safety, and operational excellence. This commitment has earned Sentio OSHA’s SHARP certification, recognizing the company as a model for workplace safety and health practices.

Sentio’s leadership also plays an active role in shaping Missouri’s innovation ecosystem. At the April launch of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Technology2030 Report, Sentio BioSciences co-founder Flavia D’Souza highlighted three key factors that make Missouri a top location for growing tech and bioscience companies: a central U.S. location, low cost of living, and a highly skilled workforce supported by a deep network of universities and trade schools.

With this expansion, Sentio BioSciences is not only accelerating its own growth but also reinforcing Missouri’s position as a leading hub for pharmaceutical innovation, advanced manufacturing, and talent development.
