Veterans United Home Loans was recently named one of the nation’s “Best Workplaces for Millennials” by Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work. The nation’s largest VA purchase lender ranked 10th on the list.
“We’re fortunate to have such an incredible group of people making Veterans United the kind of place they want it to be,” said Nate Long, CEO of Veterans United Home Loans, after the company made the list for the sixth consecutive year. “That really is the heart of it. The people here take what could easily be just another normal job and turn it into something much more than that. Not only are they leaving a lasting impact on the people we serve, but they do the same thing for their coworkers, their families, and the people they run into out in the community. I think that’s a big part of what draws people to come work here.”
The Best Workplaces for Millennials award is based on an analysis of survey responses from more than 5 million current employees. Employees responded to 60+ survey questions describing how their organization creates a Great Place to Work culture. About 85 percent of the evaluation is based on millennials’ experiences of trust and reaching their full potential as a part of the company.
Veterans United is headquartered in Columbia, Missouri. In 2020, the company announced plans to invest and create more than 500 new jobs in Columbia. In addition to growing its headquarters, Veterans United also recently expanded its reach with two additional offices in Missouri.
The first was in St. Louis, where the company recognized an untapped workforce in the region. As part of the new investment, Veterans United planned to add 85 people to its St. Louis operation. Less than a year after opening the new office, the company has tripled its hiring goals. Missouri’s capitol, Jefferson City, was also chosen as a new home for Veterans United.
