Missouri’s Award-Winning Relationship with Germany

As a member of the midwest chapter of the German American Chambers of Commerce, Missouri Partnership was recently honored with the Award of Excellence in Economic Development at the German American Business Awards gala.
Missouri and Germany have a healthy trade relationship that Missouri Partnership continues to nurture as more German companies choose our state for their international business expansion projects and vice versa.
In recent years, Missouri Partnership participated in Governor’s trade and investment missions to Germany, which included meetings with executives at BASF, Merck KGaA, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Boehringer-Ingelheim AG & Co. KG, Schütz GmbH, BAYER AG, Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, and others. Missouri Partnership regularly participates in meetings with the St. Louis Stuttgart Sister City team to discuss how we can build on our educational and cultural foundations to increase business exchanges and host foreign direct investment seminars in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
Missouri’s Exports to Germany
In 2022, Missouri exported nearly $700 million in goods to Germany including chemicals, machinery, and fabricated metal products.
Missouri’s Imports from Germany
$2.7 billion in computer products, chemicals, machinery, and fabricated metal products were imported to Missouri from Germany in 2022.
Investing in Germany and Missouri
There are currently 49 German companies with a presence in Missouri including BASF, Bayer, Henkel, and Merck, as well as 17 Missouri companies with operations in Germany such as Belden, Build-A-Bear, Bunge, and more. These investments create jobs and opportunities to build stronger Missouri and German communities.
