With 57,100 new jobs, Missouri has topped all of its surrounding states in job creation over the past 12 months, and ranks in the top 10 in the nation for job creation during the same period, according to a report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“Over the last eight years, we’ve cut our unemployment rate in half, revitalized our manufacturing industry and made Missouri an internationally-recognized center of high-tech innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. “This report showing Missouri leading the region in job growth is more proof that hard work pays off.”
The report also showed Missouri was tied for the largest statistically significant decrease in unemployment rate in the nation in November, dropping to 4.7 percent.
With its strategic location, globally connected infrastructure, competitive business and labor costs, highly-skilled and hard working talent, quality of life and a statewide commitment to attracting companies and investment, Missouri is a place where companies come to grow and thrive.
