Manufacturing employs more than 256,000 Missourians in more than 6,000 establishments, making up 9.4 percent of the state’s total employment.

The La-Z-Boy manufacturing facility in Neosho, Missouri was recently recognized with three achievement awards: Exceptional performance in leadership of workplace safety, product quality, and an “above the line” award. The awards were presented at the La-Z-Boy Enterprise Supply Chain Conference at Michigan State University.

In excess of 5.4 million hours have been worked at the Neosho plant with no lost time accidents. In the 46-year history of the facility, this is a record achievement. Bill Snow, Vice President, said: “Each hour worked sets a new record for us, but the bigger picture is the fact that we are focused on making safe work practices part of everyone’s responsibility. Having our employees come to work and return home each day without injury is our goal.”

Snow added, “Our team’s product quality is excellent according to feedback from customers and our consistent success based on internal measures.” La-Z-Boy’s branded manufacturing division is made up of six locations with almost 5,000 employees.

La-Z-Boy Midwest, located in Neosho, Missouri, has produced over 16 million pieces of high-quality furniture since 1969.
