Missouri-based Mercy Health Care System was recently named among the “15 Top Health Systems For 2019” by IBM Watson. Mercy ranked third among large health systems in the United States. This was the fourth year that Mercy has made it on IBM Watson’s list.
“Mercy is very focused on the quality of care we provide our patients, and we’ve made significant strides in reducing both health-care associated infections and surgical complications,” said Dr. Keith Starke, senior vice president. “For patients, it means we prevent unnecessary suffering, and they go home healthier and sooner.”
The annual study, which was introduced in 2009, looked for organizations within the U.S. that achieved better inpatient outcomes, extended outcomes, operational efficiency, and higher patient satisfaction. For the ranking, IBM Watson researchers evaluated 337 health systems and 2,961 health system member hospitals, reviewing public data sets.
