Kansas City is investing $25 million in the development of the Northland Workforce Development Center (NWDC), a modern training facility aimed at addressing the region’s increasing demand for skilled workers.

The new Northland Workforce Development Center will replace the current Northland Career Center campus in Platte City and will serve a broader range of learners, including both high school students and adults seeking career-focused education or retraining opportunities.

Equipped with modern labs, updated classrooms, and cutting-edge technology, the center will deliver hands-on, industry-aligned programs in high-demand fields. The upgraded campus is intended to reflect current workforce needs and provide students with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in today’s job market.

Preparing Students and Adults for In-Demand Careers

The 145,000-square-foot facility will provide career-focused training to both high school students and adults, with capacity for approximately 900 students. Programming will focus on key sectors such as:

  • Healthcare
  • Construction
  • Logistics
  • Advanced Manufacturing
