CoxHealth, a Missouri-based health innovation company, recently announced plans to upgrade its facilities serving rural southwest Missouri with a new $42 million hospital in Monett, Missouri. The investment is part of CoxHealth’s effort to ensure that residents of rural areas have access to health care.
“When someone is having a heart attack or a stroke, time is of the essence to ensure optimal recovery. Critical access hospitals like Cox Monett are vital to offering that care for patients,” said CoxHealth CEO Steve Edwards. “It’s a privilege to be able to offer this level of service in a rural area where it’s so desperately needed.”
The 70,000 sq. ft. facility will replace a current hospital, which was built in the 1950s. The facility is expected to include an emergency department and multiple operating rooms, as well as an attached building that will house clinics, exam rooms and a cardiac rehab center.
