Last week, Missouri Governor Eric Greitens visited the headquarters of Swiss Re, a global reinsurance firm, in Zurich, Switzerland, and today he announced the company would be relocating more than 400 jobs to Kansas City, Missouri.
“My job is to fight for jobs,” said Governor Greitens. “I’m proud to say that our work is getting results. We’re taking the state in a new direction, with more jobs and higher pay.”
“We’re excited about our move to downtown Kansas City, Missouri. This is as an opportunity to be closer to our lead U.S. regulator and update our workspace to meet the work needs of today,” said Eric Smith President and CEO, Swiss Re Americas. “Kansas City is a great location for our company, and we look forward to partnering with Missouri.”
Swiss Re is a leading wholesale provider of reinsurance, insurance and other insurance-based forms of risk transfer. Dealing directly and working through brokers, its global client base consists of insurance companies, mid-to-large-sized corporations and public sector clients.
“Swiss Re is a global leader in the insurance industry, and they’ll be a great fit here in Missouri,” said Rob Dixon, acting director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “Kansas City’s vibrant community continues to attract top-tier companies, and we look forward to welcoming Swiss Re to the business community.”
