Global Biopharmaceutical Manufacturer Invests $82 Million in St. Joseph, Missouri Research Lab Expansion

The world’s largest private pharmaceutical company and global leader in animal health, Boehringer Ingelheim, has opened a new, expanded R&D lab in St. Joseph, Missouri. The upgraded facility includes a modern lab with improved workspace for scientists and new technology to support R&D for pets and livestock. 

According to Boehringer Ingelheim’s press release, the St. Joseph location is a key site within the company’s global operations:

“This unique late-stage R&D laboratory, the only one of its kind in the US, is designed to streamline the process of transitioning products from development to manufacturing, enhancing our ability to serve animals better.”

Boehringer Ingelheim manufactures preventative animal healthcare products including vaccines for horses, pigs, and cattle, and is part of the KC Animal Health Corridor. The new lab will facilitate the development of future products including biotherapeutics.
