J. Rieger & Co. Distillery recently announced plans to expand in Kansas City’s historic West Bottoms neighborhood. The expansion will help the distillery quintuple production to meet growing demand, and expects to grow from its current team of a half dozen employees to a headcount of more than 40 by next spring.
The company plans to renovate its current 15,000 sq. ft. facility and expand into a connected 45,000 sq. ft. space. The new facility will include multiple bars and tasting spaces, an interactive historic exhibit, a gift shop and more. The company said it expects the facility, set to be completed in 2019, to draw 100,000 visitors annually.
More than 20 distilleries currently call Missouri home, in addition to more than 80 breweries and more than 130 wineries. In fact, one could say Missouri alcohol industry has entered a new golden age.
