Columbia’s New Principe Foods Facility Earns Industry Praise

In its July/August issue, Construction Executive dives deep into the collaboration between Principe Foods, a subsidiary of Swift Prepared Foods, and the Florida-based construction company Stellar in bringing this $200 million, 310,000-square-foot facility to life in central Missouri.
The article, Bringing Home the (Fancy Italian) Bacon calls special attention to Stellar, which specializes in design-build work for its incorporation of advanced technology, automation, and employee well-being in the facility’s design. The project involved nearly 100 individuals, including designers, engineers, managers, and marketers, who collaborated to bring the project to fruition.
The strategic selection of Columbia, Missouri, as the site for the new facility was driven by factors such as its advantageous location, business-friendly environment, and access to essential resources. It also concluded the successful completion of the project among challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and supply chain disruptions contributes to Missouri’s position as a leader in the food and agricultural sector.
