As Missouri’s economic resurgence continues, another Missouri company is rapidly growing and adding jobs throughout the state. Veterans United Home Loans (VU) is the nation’s leading full-service VA mortgage lender. The company is headquartered in Columbia, Missouri. That’s where VU is planning its biggest expansion in the state, adding more than 500 new jobs.
“Veterans United grew from a startup founded in Columbia into Boone County’s largest private employer,” said Columbia Mayor Brian Treece. “VU is a testament to what can be accomplished with a great idea, great talent, and an environment where entrepreneurs can thrive.”
In addition to growing its headquarters operation in Columbia, the company is expanding its reach with two additional offices in Missouri. St. Louis is home to one of those new offices. VU recognized an untapped workforce in the region, which led them to select St. Louis. At least 80 jobs are expected at this new location, and hiring is currently underway.
“The expansion of Veterans United in the St. Louis region is another exciting indicator of the strength of our region’s financial services workforce,” said Steve Johnson, CEO of Alliance STL. “We’re excited about the collaborative effort that led this Missouri-based company to expand across the state, creating more jobs and supporting the growth of their terrific mission to serve our country’s Veterans.”
Missouri’s capital, Jefferson City, is also home to a new VU office. Jefferson City’s affordable real estate and abundance of talent is providing VU with a solid foundation in the center of the state. More than 50 jobs are expected at VU’s new Jefferson City office, which is welcome news for city leaders.
“We are incredibly excited to have Veterans United Home Loans invest and create jobs here in Jefferson City,” said Missy Bonnot, Interim President/CEO and Director of Economic Development at the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce. “This is a fantastic community with a great talent pool, and we are thrilled that these great paying new jobs are being created by their investment here.”
In total, VU is adding hundreds of new jobs to Missouri’s financial services sector – an industry that has seen significant growth in the state since COVID-19 hit the U.S.
“During this pandemic, it’s been so refreshing to see companies like Veterans United expand and grow their workforce in Missouri,” said Subash Alias, CEO of Missouri Partnership. “It’s a real vote of confidence in our state that they chose to remain in Missouri and grow here.”
