World Wide Technology (WWT), a corporate services company that provides technology products and services globally for large businesses and government entities, recently announced plans to open a new data center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The new $20 million data center was designed and constructed by St. Louis IT services provider TierPoint. The data center spans 23,000 square feet, including 14,500 square feet of raised floor space.
“WWT’s ever-expanding need for data center space drove us to partner with TierPoint,” said Mike Taylor, WWT’s Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President of Services. “TierPoint’s facility is close to our global headquarters and tech campus in St. Louis, which allows us to scale operationally in our Advanced Technology Center.”
Missouri’s cost-competitive business environment and access to fiber makes our state an attractive location for data centers. Missouri data centers also benefit from the state’s Date Center Sales Tax Exemption Program that incentivizes the location and expansion of data centers by providing an exemption of some sales and utility taxes. And Missouri data centers benefit from the presence of a strong cluster of technology firms, suppliers, and educators throughout the state.
With all these benefits it is no wonder that companies like WWT and Meta, which recently announced a new $800 million hyperscale data center in Kansas City, continue to choose Missouri as the ideal location to grow their businesses.
