Missouri’s two largest metros have been ranked as some of the least expensive U.S. cities with a population over two million to do business in, according to the latest KPMG Competitive Alternatives report. St. Louis ranked at No. 9 with an index of 96.6 and Kansas City ranked at No. 11 with an index of 96.8.
KPMG’s 2014 report marks the first time they have included coverage of all 31 U.S. metros with a population of two million or more. The business costs are expressed as an index, with a U.S. baseline of 100.0, which is an average of the nation’s four largest metros: Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles and New York City. An index below 100 indicates lower costs than the U.S. baseline.
KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing audit, advisory and tax services.
