Missouri’s clean economy ranks 16th overall for renewable energy jobs in 2010, according to a new report from the Brookings Institution.

The Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings worked with Battelle’s Technology Partnership Practice to develop, analyze, and comment on a detailed database of establishment-level employment statistics pertaining to clean economy industries in the United States and its metropolitan areas.

Clean economy segments considered in the report included manufacturing, public services such as wastewater and mass transit, and the solar photovoltaic (PV), wind, fuel cell, smart grid, biofuel, and battery industries.

Missouri stood out for job growth in several new clean economy industry sectors. Missouri ranked 6th for solar photovoltaic jobs in 2010, 8th for degree of solar photovoltaic job specialization, and 8th for growth in solar thermal jobs from 2003-2010.
