All month long Missouri Partnership is taking a look back at 31 of Missouri’s biggest stories in economic development from the past year. Today we are taking a look at Virbac’s expansion in Bridgeton, Missouri.
On March 29, Virbac, a worldwide leader in developing, manufacturing and distributing companion animal health products, announced its $39.7 million expansion in Bridgeton, Missouri. Virbac also announced the expansion would create 144 new high-paying jobs.
“Missouri’s highly-educated workforce and commitment to scientific advancement have made us the top destination for research and manufacturing in both animal health and plant science,” said Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. “With our unemployment rate now at just 4.2 percent, Virbac’s decision to expand and create 144 jobs here in the Show-Me State is another piece of good news for Missouri and the St. Louis region.”
More than half of the $88 billion global animal health industry operates in the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor, which includes Kansas City, St. Joseph and Columbia, Missouri, and is home to the largest concentration of animal health companies in the world.
