The Missouri college’s Kummer Institute Center for Advanced Manufacturing is now home to a 3D printing machine that will help manufacturers and students further their knowledge and production using advanced manufacturing methods.
The acquisition of this advanced 3D printer is part of a broader initiative that includes the creation of the Missouri Protoplex, an advanced manufacturing research and development facility. This facility will play a central role in a planned manufacturing campus at Missouri S&T, set to open by the end of 2025. A groundbreaking ceremony for the 116,000-square-foot facility will be held on October 5th, to kick off its Manufacturing Day celebration.
As additive manufacturing becomes the norm, it’s essential for Missouri manufacturers to embrace new methods to compete on a global scale. Beyond benefiting manufacturers, the introduction of this industrial-sized 3D printer is providing undergraduate and graduate students with valuable hands-on experience.
