Northwest Missouri State University recently celebrated the renovation of the McKemy Center for Lifelong Learning with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The renovated center now boasts cutting-edge facilities and equipment designed to support the development of programs focused on skills needed in manufacturing and agribusiness professions.

The upgraded McKemy Center features state-of-the-art equipment, including Power Wave C300 portable multi-process wire feeder welders and a VRTEX virtual reality welding training simulator. These tools allow students to gain hands-on experience in welding while reducing waste associated with traditional training methods. Turf care engine manufacturer, Kawasaki Motors, is one of the Missouri manufacturers helping to develop coursework and customized training for the center.

Students can gain hands-on experience in the following occupations:

  • Welding
  • Precision measuring
  • Electronics and electricity
  • Mechatronics
  • Personal protective equipment and safety
  • Robotics

The school also plans to offer comprehensive systems management training and skill development to increase the labor force for manufacturing and agribusiness industry clusters.

The renovated McKemy Center stands as a testament to Northwest Missouri State University’s dedication to providing students with cutting-edge facilities, hands-on learning experiences, and industry-relevant skills, ultimately contributing to the development of a skilled workforce for the future.
